para discutir a construção da Usina de Belo Monte-Kararao, localizada no Rio Xingu.
Segundo os índios, Belo Monte causaria um grande impacto ambiental. Durante a audiência,
percebendo que os gritos dos guerreiros caiapós não eram ouvidos, a índia Tuíra, mulher forte,
guerreira e destemida, enfrentou diretamente o presidente da Eletronorte, José Muniz Lopes,
colocando a lâmina do facão em seu rosto.

In 1989, there was a public hearing in Altamira, located in Pará,
to discuss the construction of the Belo Monte-Kararao Power Plant, located on the Xingu River.
According to the Indians, Belo Monte would cause a great environmental impact. During the hearing,
realizing that the cries of the caiapós warriors were not heard, the Tuíra Indian, strong woman,
warlike and fearless, directly confronted the president of Eletronorte, José Muniz Lopes,
putting the blade of the machete on his face.
